Washington State Farm UMPD Diminished Value Settlement

The notice says these are the requirements for being in the Settlement Class. Being in the class does not by itself provide a payment; a valid claim form is also required.

• You must have been insured by State Farm under a policy issued in Washington, with repairs covered by underinsured motorist property damage (UMPD) coverage.
• The repair estimate, including supplements, must have been at least $1,000.
• At the time of the accident, the vehicle must have been no more than six years old and have had fewer than 90,000 miles.
• The vehicle must have had frame damage, deformed sheet metal, or body or paint work.
• Leased vehicles and vehicles declared a total loss are excluded. The accident also must have occurred between January 13, 2019, and February 27, 2026.

Submitting a valid claim form is the only way to seek money from this settlement.

• Complete and sign the enclosed green, two-page Claim Form.
• Submit it online or mail it with a postmark no later than December 14, 2026.
• If you received a form for more than one qualifying accident and want to seek a payment for each one, submit a separate form for each accident.

The notice alone does not answer what supporting material, if any, the claim form may require. Check the enclosed form and its instructions before submitting it.

• The supplied notice does not state whether documents such as repair estimates, photographs, or payment records must be sent with the claim form.
• It says to read the form’s instructions carefully and requires a “Valid Claim Form.”

The notice does not promise a fixed payment amount. A person must qualify and submit a valid claim form to receive a share.

• Payments are based on each qualifying member’s repair cost compared with the combined repair costs of all Settlement Class Members, using the part of the fund left after attorneys’ fees, costs, and service awards.
• The notice estimates that the average payment will likely be around $625, but this is only an estimate.
• Any diminished-value payment State Farm previously made to a member reduces that member’s settlement payment.

The notice does not provide a specific payment date. Approval alone does not mean payments will immediately be sent.

• The court is scheduled to consider approval on October 30, 2026.
• If the settlement is approved, payments are to be made after appeals are finished and no further appeal is possible.

Opting out means leaving this settlement. It is different from simply not submitting a claim form.

• If you do nothing, you will not receive a settlement payment and will still be bound by the settlement’s release of claims.
• To leave the settlement, mail a signed exclusion letter that says you want to be excluded, includes your name and address, and is postmarked by September 30, 2026.
• Someone who opts out receives no settlement benefits but keeps any rights they otherwise have to make their own claim against State Farm.

The Final Settlement Hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on October 30, 2026, at the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington in Seattle. The court may postpone it without further notice to the class.

• A class member who does not opt out may comment on or object to the settlement.
• An objection must be filed with the court by September 30, 2026, and sent by first-class mail to both Class Counsel and State Farm’s counsel by that date.
• The notice lists required information and additional requirements for anyone seeking permission to speak at the hearing.
