Datavant Pennsylvania Medical Records Settlement
Datavant, the successor to IOD Incorporated, agreed to a proposed settlement over fees charged for copies of Pennsylvania medical records from 2005 to 2012. Eligible class members who submit an approved claim may recover 35% of qualifying basic, search, retrieval and per-page copying fees shown in Datavant's records. Who Is Included
Patients, representatives, designees, insurers, attorneys and other people or entities that requested or subpoenaed patient medical records from a Pennsylvania health-care provider, paid IOD the maximum statutory basic, search, retrieval or reproduction fees between July 15, 2005 and September 3, 2012, and were sent notice. The notice excludes requests not requiring patient authorization, including listed radiology-image, insurer-audit, provider and government requests, as well as defendant's counsel, the Court and staff, and Class Counsel.

Who is included in the Datavant medical-records settlement?

How is the payment calculated?
An approved claimant may receive 35% of the qualifying basic, search, retrieval and per-page copying fees paid to IOD for covered requests. Datavant's records determine the transaction list and calculated benefit shown with the mailed or online Proof of Claim. The notice does not state a per-person maximum or an aggregate fund.
What is required to claim a payment?
Complete and sign the official Proof of Claim. The online form uses the Class Member ID and displays the medical-record transactions Datavant associates with the claimant. The notice does not say every claimant must upload independent proof beyond the completed form and listed records.
Someone claiming as a patient-requestor beneficiary or successor must make the required certification, and the administrator may request additional information to validate that claim.
When and how must the claim arrive?
Submit online or mail the completed Proof of Claim so it is received by November 30, 2026. The notice expressly says the receipt deadline applies regardless of the envelope's postmark, so mail early enough for delivery.
When would payments be issued?
The Court is scheduled to consider final approval on October 16, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time. If approval becomes final, claims will be reviewed and paid after any appeals are resolved. The notice warns that appeals can take more than a year and gives no fixed payment date.
What happens if I do nothing?
You will receive no settlement payment. Unless you validly opt out, you will remain bound by the Court's orders and release claims against IOD and Datavant that were or could have been raised in the case.
How do I opt out or object?
A separate written exclusion request for each person or entity must contain all information required by notice question 12 and be received by the administrator by October 1, 2026. A postmark alone is not enough.
An objection keeps you in the class and asks the Court to reject or change its approval decision. Objections and copies must satisfy notice question 17 and be received by the listed recipients by September 16, 2026.
