$11M Fragrance Products Antitrust Settlement

This proposed $11 million settlement resolves claims against IFF in a lawsuit alleging that fragrance-product prices were unlawfully fixed. It does not end the case against the other defendants. Eligible consumers may have a future opportunity to seek a payment, but no money is being distributed now and payment amounts are not yet known.

Why isn’t anyone being paid now?

  • The $11 million settlement is with IFF only. The case against the other defendants will continue.
  • No payments are being made now. More money could become available through later settlements or a trial, but the notice says that is not guaranteed.
  • Any settlement money left after approved fees, costs, and expenses is to be paid at the end of the lawsuit or when the Court orders.

What could affect the amount of a future payment?

  • The amount for an individual is not known yet.
  • Payments will depend on the number of valid claims and on the number and type of qualifying products each claimant purchased.
  • Court-approved attorneys’ fees, costs, expenses, service awards, and administration costs will come from the settlement fund.

Which consumer or household products are covered?

  • The notice does not yet identify a complete list of included products.
  • It says the list will be made available later.
  • The fragrance material can include ingredients, formulas, compounds, and related technology used to deliver a fragrance; it can be natural or synthetic.

What do I need to do to seek a future payment?

  • A future claim form must be submitted before the future claims-period deadline to receive a payment.
  • That claims period has not begun, and this notice does not give a claim deadline or say what supporting documents will be needed for payment.
  • The notice encourages people to register for updates about a future claim opportunity and later settlements.

How do I exclude myself, and what changes if I do?

  • To leave the settlement, mail an individual written exclusion request to the Claims Administrator with your contact information, proof of class membership, your physical signature, and a statement asking to be excluded.
  • The request must be postmarked by July 27, 2026. Email and telephone requests are not accepted.
  • Someone who excludes themselves cannot receive money or benefits from this settlement, but is not bound by the settlement judgment and may pursue their own claim against IFF’s released parties.

Can I object without leaving the settlement?

  • You may object only if you remain in the settlement class; someone who excludes themselves cannot object.
  • A written objection must be filed with the Court and mailed to both Class Counsel and IFF’s Counsel by August 17, 2026.
  • The objection needs identifying information, proof of class membership, the reasons for the objection and supporting materials, certain information about the scope of the objection and past objections, and the objector’s own signature.
