Who is included in the settlement?
The notice describes the class using those requirements. However, it gives inconsistent end dates for the calling period elsewhere in the notice, so the precise end date cannot be determined from this notice alone.
- You must be an individual in the United States.
- You must not have provided your telephone number to ConnectAmerica.com.
- You must have received at least one prerecorded message on a cellular telephone number.
- Defendant, people who make a timely and valid exclusion request, and the assigned judges, their staff, and family are excluded.
How much could I receive?
This is an estimate, not a guaranteed payment amount.
- The notice estimates $275 per person.
- You must submit a valid claim to receive a payment.
- The actual payment can be lower because of fees, costs, expenses, administration, and a proportional reduction if valid claims exceed the $4 million cap.
What do I need to do to request a payment?
The notice does not say when payments will be sent.
- Complete a Claim Form.
- Submit it online by December 21, 2026, or mail it with a postmark no later than December 21, 2026.
- The Settlement Administrator will review the form for completeness and eligibility.
Do I need documents to support my claim?
The documentation requirement is unspecified in this notice. A signature, declaration, notice, or claim form by itself is not described as documentary proof.
- A Claim Form is required.
- The notice does not identify documents that must be submitted with the form.
- It also does not say that no documents will be needed; it only says the administrator will review claims for completeness and eligibility.
What happens if I do nothing?
Doing nothing is different from leaving the settlement. To seek payment, you must submit a valid claim.
- You stay in the settlement.
- You do not receive a payment because a claim form is required.
- If the Court approves the settlement, you are bound by it and give up the ability to bring or continue the released claims against the released parties.
How do I opt out, and what does that change?
Opting out means leaving the settlement. It is the only option that preserves your right to bring your own lawsuit over these settled claims.
- Send a written Opt-Out Request by mail, postmarked no later than December 21, 2026.
- Include the proceeding name, your full name, current address, personal signature, and the words “Opt-Out Request” or a comparable statement that you do not want to participate.
- You will not receive a settlement payment, but you keep the right to sue ConnectAmerica.com on your own over the claims resolved by this settlement.
How can I object to the settlement?
The notice’s summary says objections may be postmarked by the deadline, but the detailed instructions require the court filing to be received by the deadline. The detailed instruction is the applicable one described here.
- You may object only if you remain in the settlement class.
- File a written objection with the Clerk of Court so it is received by December 21, 2026.
- Also send copies to the Settlement Administrator, Settlement Class Counsel, and Defendant’s Counsel by mail or email no later than that deadline.
- The objection must contain the information and supporting material listed in Question 15, including proof that you are a class member.
When is the court hearing, and do I need to attend?
The hearing date, time, or location may change without additional notice.
- The hearing is scheduled for January 19, 2027, at 12pm ET.
- It will be in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and may also be held virtually.
- You do not have to attend. To speak, you must properly request permission through the objection process.
